“ We went into this game with only ten Dwarves. Realistically, a good result would have been a draw, so we knew where we stood.
At the start of the first, with the sweltering heat only going to reduce our number even more, our main priority was to not lose any more players and put up a stiff defence. Reduced to 9 players on the very first block of the game, this looked like a tough proposition for us. Thankfully we got some crucial rolls our way, and a failed GFI by one of the Bull Centaurs allowed us to collect possesion deep in our own half. A few turns later, Thrór managed to kick and chase up the right flank, with only one unfortunate Hobgoblin to stand in the way. A brief scuffle later, and he managed to stumble over to make it an improbable 1-0.
At the start of the second half, we squared up in the middle. The Bulls quickly boxed us in and we attempted to move up the left, changing our angle and throwing off some of the Chaos Dwarves. We only partially managed to break free and it was another lucky roll, when the big Troll rolled a double skulls whilst blitzing the ball carrier, that allowed us to move clear. A quick rearrangement and Thrór went over for his second.
With only three turns left for the opposition the victory was secure but, with only 6 dwarves left to defend the lead, we were unable to prevent a consolation TD in the closing stages.
Player of the game: Thrór scored two and added a pass, and rightly gains the honour.”
