Ubersreik amateur side make it two wins on the bounce with two shut-outs to boot.
The Diplomats continued their quest for silverware in the Tuna Cup with a hard-fought win over elven opponents. After a rousing three-nil win over their Pro cousins, the Dips faced dark elves.
Lugnica were short-handed with two blitzers out of action from their previous fixture. The Dips gained an early advantage with three removals to two in the first half and ground out an opening just before the break. Having worked the ball up the left flank, captain Josiah Grau spun out from the pocket and found Paxton Camus in the end zone with a risky long throw.
In the second half, Lugnica made a couple of unforced ball-handling errors, leaving them exposed and outnumbered at the back, despite regaining a numerical advantage in midfield. Grau dusted himself off from a blitz from witch elf Satella, gained revenge by knocking her to the ground, scooped up the loose ball and crossed the line in what some commentators saw as an MVP-worthy performance.
But it was Molly Quike, who scored herself last time out, who earned her second MVP in two matches. She clearly heard her coaches criticism and threw six blocks this time around.
The Dips quest for glory continues and the city crosses its fingers that they can finally step out of the shadow of the bigger clubs in the region.”
