After a tough week 1 game where the Wreckers lost Landry to a neck injury, they managed to retain their posture against the CCC!
The drive of the match saw the Wreckers form a blocking line as Murray strolled into the endzone for his first DLE Touchdown. (During their first game, Murray elected to primarily pass to Ron Weatherby III for a more "Hurray Up" Offense gameplan).
The second kickoff saw the CC retaliate by attempting to form an offensive down the north side of the pitch. But as the Wreckers' Gaulden seems to be breaking into a dead sprint to take out the CCC's Sven Drubill, Drubill made the swift but interesting choice to attempt a pass to fellow thrower Arabella Grey. Grey then failed to catch the pass, fumbling the ball where Gaulden and Ntamack could move in to cover the ball.
The second half began with the Wreckers attempting to hold the line against another CCC offensive push. But long time DLE veteran Dunkelhelm simple stared off into space for most of the drive, before a failed attempt to block by the CC's Alerksson allow DLE Rookie Ross Pierschbacher to clear the way for Johannssen to blitz for Drubill. Drubill again sense the pressure and tossed a perfect ball to skilled receiver Feinberg who, uncharacteristically, couldn't manage to catch the ball with Pierschbacher instead stealing the ball. The Wreckers then manages to take down Feinberg and Dunkelhelm to clear way for Pierschbacher to make his way into the endzone for a 2-0 lead.
The fourth drive of the match simply saw the Wreckers take more interest in causing as much damage as possible, allowing most of the CCC to slip by and manage a score in the match.
And the final drive of the match was simply one additional turn of the Wreckers trying to take down as many CC as possible before the final whistle blew.
Wreckers win 2-1, and will enjoy the presence of Harold Landry returning for their Week 3 match against the Marauders.”
