What’s that? Ohh the mic is on. Ohhh! We are live…… Hello Bood Bowl fans. Welcome to the Colosseum in Mordheim where it seems the visiting Grenzburg Greenskins have arrived just in time for a snowball fight. Beware. The little mutant kids watching the game don’t see snow around here often so you can be sure the glowing snowballs have a chunk of warpstone in the middle.
In any event, the Greenskins come into this game after a road loss to Wolfenburg while Legion just managed a draw versus the Vikings. Eyes will be on both teams as they settle into the season. As you watch this match it will also be good to note that Legion will be playing without their All-Pro lineman Seamus McFamous. He was infamously fouled by the Vikings and will need to sit out this match and nurse his injured pride. Grenzburg will be without blitzer Korey Tomer. Tomer picked up a niggle in the last match and will also need to sit this one out. Both players could be missed.
It is clear this is a grudgematch. The first block of the day knocks out Legion’s passer but immediately thereafter, Knuckles knocks out the heavily armored Gaston Glock. Now O’Daniel is off the field for Legion. Knuckles fouls Marlin for an apparent kill but somehow the medic patched him up and he is sitting on the end of the bench. The miracles of modern witchcraft never cease to amaze me.
The Greenskins make a move to the Southern sideline. Another foul by Knuckles. Orlando Brown inflicts a casualty on the rookie assigned to hold the ogre in check. (Who could have predicted that?) The half is winding down and the Greenskins are failing to advance the ball while Legion is failing to apply any pressure to the ball carrier. Grandad continues the assault knocking out Tommy 2 Gun. Monk is hit and drops the ball. Knuckles fouls him which means no one will score this half. We will have to see who the team apothecaries are able to patch up and get back out on the field for the second half.
Well look at that. The doctors do their jobs and only the thrower Kizer decides he is in too much pain to return to start the second half. Kudos to both medical staffs.
The snow continues to fall and despite a blitz, Legion gets the ball into the hands of the Bullet. Knuckles adds another foul. Legion lines up to protect Bullet on the sideline. That is a dangerous spot. Another foul by Knuckles.
This spot makes me nervous. Bullet is too close to the sideline. You really do not want him in the stands. This may be a home game but fans are fickle. They may try to take home a souvenir. If you are lucky they just take your helmet and let you keep your head. WOW! If not for O’Daniel’s ability to side step a hit both he and Bullet would be in the stands now. Meanwhile I am told that on the irrelevant side of the pitch Daron Payne may have broken the knee of Nick Bawden. That one could leave a Niggle.
I don’t think Legion is getting out of that scrum with the ball or their lives. Murtair is boneheaded. Weidrich gives the pile a push. Diving Tackle strikes again. It is Legion’s bane. Why didn’t Bullet try to leap out of there? Clearly it would have been a better option than dodging out of there with a diving tackler at your heels. Now everyone pays the price for Bullet’s mistake. Danny Johnson smashes the knee of Munoz. Where is the ref? I saw his hammer from up here! As expected, Grudges is pushed into the crowd. And there goes a lucky goblin with the helmet….and his head.
The ball is still free. O’Daniel for the Legion attempts to redeem himself. The dodges through 2 tackle zones. Dodges into another. Picks up the ball. Dodges out. And runs toward the endzone. Bullet sees he needs help and tries to dodge out through a tackle zone….Diving tackle. Come on you deserved that face plant! The Greenskins are scrambling to catch O’Daniel. They get to him with the blitz but only manage to push him into the endzone.
Somehow Legion leads this game 1-0.
Legion kicks back to the Greenskins and immediately Orlando Brown smashes the rookie catcher knocking him out of the match. Another foul from Knuckles that has no effect. Now the Greenskins are dangerously close to the same sideline where Grudges bought the farm. Time is running out. Monk will have to make a break for it. Nobody is going to stop him. Weidrich tries to be a hero but is tripped up while dodging. That one looks bad. It could be an Achilies injury. If it is that will probably end his career.
With no one around him Monk strolls into the endzone. What a match, but what a heartbreaker for the Greenskins. They clearly outplayed Legion. They had them on the ropes. They bullied them all day. However, in the end they only came away with a draw.
Well, this is Merlin Oldsoul. I thank you for tuning into this broadcast. Please join us next week on the road again in Waldenhof where hopefully there will be no snow.
