*Cough*But don’t count the Rangers out even before the opening whistle Oldsack. My name is Alley McCoist but Ranger fans know me as Super Alley. I am recently retired from the Fools Point Rangers and now I am contractually obligated play the part of a color analyst for Mordheim Legion games…..I need to get a new agent…And as I was saying, don’t count the Rangers out of this match. Keeping the Legion out of the playoffs would make their season a bit brighter.”
As the home team, Legion wins the toss and chooses to take the ball in the second half. The opening kick is a short one on the Southern side of the pitch. Steinsdottir picks up the ball and retreats behind a loose screen of blockers. It looks like both sides have settle in by sizing up rivals and locking horns in a brawl. Munoz, Sapoula, McFamous, and Kizer are all down on the pitch. The mercenary lineman is in a bit of trouble. He tried to dodge away from the tag team of Turner and O’Daniel only to trip and injure himself.
Wow! What just happened? “Two Gun” Turner looked to be knocking down BamBam Beretta to set up an assisted foul for Knuckles. But something went horribly wrong for BamBam and horribly right for the Legion. BamBam seems to have fallen on a spike that was left on the pitch after the pregame vampire hunt. The way Beretta reacted would lead one to believe he was a vampire. Because that beast is Dead, Dead, Dead!
*Cough* Yeah. Tough break for BamBam. He had been acting strange this season. The team had him pegged for a vampire with the skill set he had developed. He had been hitting harder, dodging better, and even jumping up after being knocked down. It was just unnatural. In any event, the Rangers will miss his abilities and Fools Point will mourn his loss back home. *Cough*
The official motions for play to continue as the corpse is carted from the field. Steinsdottir makes an excellent pass to the catcher Cooper. Coops decides to try and score but he has to get past O’Daniel. Woosh! Even with his agility he cannot get past O’Daniel’s tackling and he hits ground hard putting the ball on the ground. Murtair is boneheaded. Turner comes in to pick up the ball. The ogre Charnelly blitzes Knuckles who somehow survives. Turner hands the ball to Kizer. Look out Charnelly dives and brings down Knuckles who was trying to get away. That ogre is a menace.
McFamous finally pushes the ogre away giving Kizer a chance to run away. With some good moves, again the ogre is threatening Kizer. This time McFamous knocks the big fella down. Kizer is only a few yards from scoring. And Kizer walks in a defensive score to end the half.
*Cough* Horse Droppings. Cooper needs to be flogged for turning the ball over. This is not going as I hoped it would. *Cough*
Legion opens the second half by trying to clear the line. O’Daniel hurts a rookie lineman and then a foul from Knuckles hurts the rookie blitzer. Bullet has been given the ball. A couple more rookies leave the field. One on the boot of Knuckles. The ref reached for his red card but Kondor caught him and put a bag of coins in his hand. It is a reasonable ref and Knuckles will stay on the field. The Rangers are fouling as a measure of self defense now. Even so, Munoz is not phased, and he stands up for more punishment. Murtair gets into the action by injuring a rookie. And Legions scores to go up 2-0.
*Cough* Horse Droppings. What is with the faulty armor all of a sudden? This smells like some home cooking. This is getting ugly. Nine Rangers are on the bench when Maddox scored. *Cough*
The second half is at it’s midpoint and Legion kicks the ball back to the Rangers. As usual, they choose to put pressure on the ball. Knuckles is clearly annoyed sitting in the backfield with no one to foul so HE decides to pressure the quarterback. Steinsdottir makes the pass to Murphy and Legion will have a hard time catching him as he moves toward the Southwestern corner of the pitch. They cannot hope to stop him.
Knuckles fouled a mercenary lineman and ….What?...The ref gives him a red card. It is incomprehensible. Inconceivable even.
Murphy Scores! Rangers only trail by one but kicking off they can only field 6 players. Kizer passes to Bullet who scores to end the match. And with that Legion is guaranteed a place in the playoffs.
*Cough*Horse droppings! *
For the first time since moving to Mordheim, Legion will participate in the post season. However, with two games to go the regular season is not over yet. The Manticores are within striking distance. If Legion can keep rolling they have a shot at winning the division.
On that note, it is time for me to sign off from Mordheim. Join us next week on the MLB when this very Legion travels to Broekwater to do battle with the Bruisiers. Until then, be excellent to each other.
*Cough* Really Oldsack. Legion makes the playoffs and that is the best you can come up with? “Be excellent to each other?” You may as well have ended with “Party on Dudes.” *Cough*
Shut it McCoist we still have a hot mic. We are still broadcasting. We are……
