“The Children of the Wood opened up their defence with a blitz, with their Treeman Oakle getting a casualty on the Squeakers on the very first block of the game! The Squeakers were suddenly on the backfoot, but recovered strongly, inflicting a casualty themselves then scoring a quick TD to open up their account.
The Squeakers then turned the tables on the Children of the Wood on their own defence by quickly repositioning their players just before the kick (perfect defence). When the Wood's thrower failed to pick up the ball, he found himself blitzed by Gutter Runner Thanquol who flattened him and picked up the ball! The Wood recovered the ball momentarily, but lost it again to Thanquol who ran in a TD to take the score to 2-0. During this play, the Squeakers also managed to injure the Wood's Wardancer Charlie to give them a further advantage.
The Children of the Wood finally scored their first TD late in the opening period when their catcher, Cat withstood a blitz and dodged his way into the end zone.
The second half became more brutal as players continued to get injured. The Squeakers managed to steal the ball in offence twice, each time scoring a stinging TD. Unfortunately for the Squeakers, veteran thrower Snitch Silvertongue injured himself when trying to dodge in front of an opposing player to grab the ball (into one TZ, but he had Big Hand, and I should have used a reroll LOL), and linerat Heetch was killed by a brutal block. The Squeakers declined to give any medical attention to Heetch as there was still time in the game for a more important player to get hurt.
-------------------
A difficult game for my opponent who had to deal with some jammy armour and injury rolls by me. Losing Snitch Silvertongue for the next match is a nuisance, and Heetch (with his 4 SPP) could have been saved on turn 6 in the second half, but with his Treeman out there and my AV7, I thought it was wiser to save the apoth just in case. Pity unused Apothecaries can't be saved up for future matches!
