The key to the match was the Human's very bad first drive. Losing the ball in turn four was the decisive mistake. The catcher could have been put in a better position. Don't make the mistake of thinking that the humans were unlucky not to score (for a double 1 on one handover in turn 8): this is not an excuse for a very poor first drive by the US Robots: if the dwarves hadn't gone hard against cindy (I don't know why people are afraid of cindy after the rule change her bombs look like water balloons, but for 50k she is still a good choice IMO) they could have ended the first drive ahead.
In the second drive the humans took advantage of an open positioning of the dwarves, who - despite the numerical superiority - did not cage well the runner, returning the favour: 2D blitz (with a dodge 3+ not so science fiction with 3 rr) and ball taken away also there on turn 4 (and for the dwarves losing the ball in the middle of the drive then becomes a mess, in fact they were not able to score). All these vicissitudes cost the US Robots so much in terms of removals :that they start the OT in 8 against 11 (immediately 7 against 11 for the Officious Ref who kicks out the last remaining catcher). In 7 vs. 11 without the thrower and the catcher 3 blitzers 3 linos and 1 ogre (Halfling was blitzed in 2nd half again another mistake by humans who did not protect) the only possible strategy for Humans was to go to the back and hope for something... the Ogre helped with a couple of removals, but then was complicated. Maybe in turn 7 they should have tempted a pass far away in spite remaining with ball keeper back... but no reroll for both , in this case is coin flip.
If the US Robots had played their first half well perhaps there would have been no need for an OT, so another match for "Lessons Learned" unfortunately for me.
In the end one might think that Nuffle decided. It didn't. It was decided by the coach who did the least wrongs: Dwarves' coach in this case. congratulations”
