Next time come ready with a plan ; my opponent received the kick, i shall avoid to take any casualties so i will let him come to me, but he needs to score latest turn 6 so i have a chance to equalise before then end of my half. To achieve this, turn 2 i shall let a big opening to taunt him, but only 5 players can go through, then pressure to avoid the stall.
Once you have this kind of generic strategy in place you will be better to place your player because you know what you want to achieve.
