Decimated by Skaven this go around. Felt we had several positional errors for sure, but we also did pretty poorly on the dice: rarely was able to pick up the ball, multiple first action turnovers. Two-dice blocks were very dangerous this time around, and it's led me to have a newfound respect for the block skill. We crossed into their side of the field one time in the first half and it looked promising that we could score. Cage was moving well. We were stunning and marking their players well, but first action turn 6 attempted to move the cage and turned it over on my first action. Needed to make a blitz to open up a lane and failed. After that it was essentially a route. Goblins died in droves and we had no ability to pick up the ball or even cover it on kick-offs.
Tactical Takeaways:
- Gutter Runners are very fast. We can't get bought into the idea of throwing blocks on the LOS against a team that fast. We need bigs along the back to help cover the ball.
- Also need to be much more precise on fouling. I wasted position by going after fouls that weren't necessary. We already outstrengthed the rat ogre and we didn't need to be too worried to the point of losing position to foul, especially a foul that isn't heavily assisted. Should've put more priority into positioning. ”
