fivehead's Acolytes of Astanga strike back with fiery rage against jingus's newly-drafted Scarlet Voiders!
The previously winless acolytes were seen in deep meditation in the wooded area a half-league's distance from the humble arena facilities at Ilkingdale as the feuding coaches played their first match of today's doubleheader. The monkish elves warmed up in repetitious sun salutation sequence until they walked mindfully across the rolling plains to the arena for the half-past arrival time. Here, they met Journeyman Zachary Hardshield, who seemed to miss the pre-game memo.
As the kick-off horns blared, the Acolyte defence faced a field-spanning column of dark elf grit-- all mascara and gothic tattoo ink. But the strength-channeling astanga session seemed to be to the high elves' benefit, as they wove through this skinny wall and dealt concentrated blows to the o-line, the first coming in the form of a knockout on #6 Amona Kayce from the staff-wielding Blitzer Sharvavarman.
After a few early half blocks, the Acolytes held a 11-8 manpower advantage on the field, as punctuated by #7 lineman Haimii's shoulder-displacing roundhouse kick on the Voiders' #7 Rini Keltz. No stranger to perilous situations, Jingus charged #4 Blitzer Davi Fonni with rushing the ball deep into the High elves' end of the field, but such dire playcraftsmanship was thwarted, and the ball ultimately ended up in the hands of Mandhatri, who'd run it into the endzone to put the yogis up 1-0 by the end of the half.
In the second half, a somewhat mentally exhausted Jingus fielded a sub-standard 9 dark elves against fivehead's full eleven, and this disadvantage proved too overwhelming to coach around for him. In coach fivehead's favorite play of the game, #5 Urjayoni rescued a flank-buried fumble from the sideline and tossed it over a wall of guarded dark elf blitzers into the gauntleted hands of #11 Blitzer Sharvavarman, who ran the ball unopposed to the endzone. All the while, #6 Suditi dealt a nerve-pinching karate chop a bit too close to the jugular of #9 Dark Elf Lineman Ulli Yssith, and he crumpled to the ground as he gulped in his last breath.
Fivehead would go on to score a speedy third touchdown, and only in the closing moments of the match would the threatening muscle of the Scarlet Voiders come on full display, as #4 Fonni struck back to deal back-to-back injuries to 2-TD scoring Sharvavarman and Acolyte newcomer Candabhargava.
But what was done was done, and fivehead left the double-header of the day unscathed against jingus, proud of the blood both of his squads brought to the pitch on Ilkingdale grass.
