We came up against a skill loaded team of dwarves for this round: mighty blow, guard, everywhere, and I'm happy to say I think we played it decently well. He was down on TV and had a wizard, so I knew we would likely lose a score at some point, but we weathered it well. He fireballed us in our opening drive, but we managed to recover and it looked like we were poised to score. He needed to dodge out a blitz er to sack us and he made it. His offensive series we started losing players early on, and it didn't look good. He got stalled out though while we were able to get a few stuns and tie up several of players, such that the cage couldn't progress. Finished we us recapturing the ball, but with no way to protect it.
Tactical Takeaways -
- Felt like a team made for black box match making with the skilled up players, but no reserves or re-rolls. Curious how that strategy plays out. I'd assume against vanilla teams it would be killer.
- Its not enough to get the ball. You have to have a way to protect the ball once you have it. My final action of having the goblin go for the ball was unwise because there was no way to protect him. I should have instead made the unlikely pick up with the black orc because even though it was just as unlikely to be successful, I at least had a chance to protect the ball with the strength.
- Needed to pay more attention on the pushes that led to my first drive stalling. I had a clear way to chain push a goblin free who could've than screened off the ball carrier, but I chose incorrectly and left the goblin instead next to a tackle player.
- Need to be able to play faster, multiple turns where I went to the bell. ”
