Rough outing with our boys seeming to have some heavy week one jitters. We had an opportunity to take a Turn 1 re-roll on a double skull block, and in hindsight we should've done it. That failed block led to chaos of a first half. A mad scrum for the ball ensued with us seeming to have a chance to break away at times, but it was never meant to be. Managed to hold on to a 0-0 half, but it felt like a victory from what could've been us going into half down 1-0.
We also went into half down 3 players each: 2 Black Orc KOs and a BH Goblin for me, and a KO'd Mino and Goblin, with a SI lineman. Neither Black Orc could shake the daze, but the Mino and Goblin took back to the pitch. Down 8 to 10 it looked very unsure for the Bashers.
Gravelton managed to secure the ball and start to cage up well. We managed one stunned foul on an Ogre, but otherwise tried to stay compact and force the opponent to an edge. They took one and we were able to screen it off well with Gravelton making the decision to push through the screen with the agility of the elf. He nearly made it through, but was tripped up and a mad dash for the ball ensued. It appeared we may have stabilized, but a dodging Skaven managed to catch a seam and pick the ball up out of the maddness. Victory nearly in his grasp, he failed a rush at the goal line. A score out of sight on our end, we were lucky to have a Black Orc catch the ball and run the clock out while being screened by goblins until time expired.
A very hard fought draw, but one that we're proud of given the circumstances. Excited to continue building the team - working towards a Sneaky Git, and Block. MVP awarded to a Goblin, which isn't ideal, but Sneaky Git is, so we'll take it for now. ”
