I did find the Chaos Dwarf very difficult to coach. Which is of interest as in the tables league I find them the most fearsome opponent.
My tactic to foul did backfire, as I had two player sent off. In T5 I left a Bull in a vulnerable spot, and he was blocked to casualty. It was not through want, but all my player were tied up. Perhaps screen is best?
T5 is where I failed to win.
And then... greed on T6. I had opportunity to push into cage to base a player. The push would have meant a counter block on bull, so i fished for the pow, but found skulls instead. It ends up in worse spot. I did not assess the risk reward well. The burn runs deep on that decision.
The 2nd half I keep my line together, but it is based and I cannot escape it. Attrition builds and we are low on numbers. I make a run for it, marking Guardians as best I can. By the brilliant Coach DoctorMidnight uses Tom Guardian blitz and move to base my Bull.
In the end, even with lucky dodging, I am able to generate 1DB skulls to end the game.
T5 2nd half is where I lost the game, but in truth it was lost well before then with poor position, and expert dismantling of my team by Coach Doc.
It is a funny one, I spot moments, but do not truly understand this game.
Learnings:
1) Greed, must exercise restraint and acceptance. Risk versus reward analysis must improve.
2) Advice given by the always generous Coach Doc is to keep team together. I will investigate this, as my feel is that against the Tomb King it got me in trouble. I will accept this advice and look to other coach replays to understand.
Findings:
1) Fouls worsened my already losing situation. It is said it is acceptable to foul when ahead, but not when down on numbers.
Thoughts:
1) Screen style set up against Tomb King? There is no way to out bash them, this team cannot out dash them... I must try to prevent large scaling basing. More investigation, and head scratching...
