A most enjoyable match with many magnificent plays. A real arm wrestle with the great Coach SideshowBob. A real pleasure to play a coach of his calibre.
We made each other roll dice, took excellent risks available to us, and there were both tears and cheers. It reminded me of my most favourite games of chess.
Even with some removal and number advantage, SideshowBob pressured me into an early score which, along with Timeout feature, allowed 4 turns to score, which he did in magnificent fashion.
I was lucky to get the receive in extra time, with re rolls up sleeve. Still, a magnificent crowd surf sack of my carrier occurred. A lovely move!
We were able to recover ball, but then again another masterful sack. Luck was on our side and a 2nd recovery allowed the score.
Learnings:
1) H2T5 I pressed to score too early I think. My feeling in retrospect is should have stabilised a little longer.
2) Inverted Chevron on 3-4 turn defence... hmmm... I wonder if standard would have been better candidate for setting up. Mummy in wide zone?
3) 5+ dodge w dodge into cage.. to surf ball! Could have set up better to make 6+, or positioned better to have no surf (just 4+ sack with the wrackle ghoul)
Findings:
1) OK, Dirty Sneak is good. 6 removals this game! But Sideshow started the fouling... my Mummy fouled to death Turn 1 haha.
2) The practice of 'pinning' pieces did work well this game, but there was risk of heavy attrition. Beware of it. Value trade off.
3) The chain push to take 2 players basing out of play worked well. I think it was Java that did this to me. I now learn it.
Thank you Coach SideshowBob for a most magnificent game. I look forward to future battles of the same quality.”
