Masterfully coached by the great Coach Dementor, the dwarves found themselves caught out of position several times. His aggressive play also was to be admired.
On defence, we are careful not to overcommit, as I know it is very tough to position with dwarves. The elves work us side to side like a wobbly tooth.
T4 i make a mistake of diagonal basing 2v2. Frontal would have at least forced a dodge to free up elf piece. Small detail, but it is T5 where the break down the side is made. Only nuffle skulls stops my opponent to score.
T2 2nd half I make mistake with Slayer position- should have put into cage for extra tackle zone. Big mistake, costing us opportunity for the game. We are then cage dived and sacked.
Yes, it is T2 where we lost the game through poor position I think. One small error creates big ripples.
My opponent also positions his elves brilliantly for retrieval. We cannot match this kind of ability.
Learnings:
1) Fear the elf cage dive. If possible (IF...) protect against it with extra tackle zones. We did not do this well.
2) Fear the elf aggression. If possible (IF...) cage and protect ball well. We did not do this well.
Investigate:
1) How to protect touch down being scored against elves? It is impossible to rely on Nuffle to stop it. We failed in this regard.
2) How to keep ball safe? We also failed in this regard. Ball safety was respected, but we lacked the skill and positioning to execute.
Although it seemed one way traffic where the dwarves could gain no foothold in the game, it was fun and interesting with many puzzles to solve.
Great Coach Dementor, thank you for the game. It was great to watch you steer the Dark Elves to victory. I hope to try this team out one day, and will look back to your replays for inspiration.
Post analysis-
T4 2nd half I based the blitzer elf with my blitzer. Better candidate would be one square back, so the space between us! This forces tougher dice rolls. ”
