“NWBL WK 7:

For the Bronze Division Title Inter-Tu Miami CF was our opponent coming in at a 5/0/2 record. We were able to receive to start the half, and Hizdoo managed to recover the ball after a deep kick directly on our endzone. He brought the ball up, but our game plan of getting the elves off the field as soon possible was not going as planned. Though we were putting them on the ground, they always managed to pop back up. Even Yazzy giving the boot wasn't yielding the results we'd like. We moved forward and caged well until our Turn 3 we left an exposed edge of our cage - Title game jitters. It was still going to take some work on the part of the elves, but the hole was big enough, and not only did we lose the ball, we lost Hizdoo. He was wrecked and didn't look to be able to come back, until the field doc worked his magic. Still we were down a man, with the ball on the ground. Kogill managed to pick it up, but we needed to put Yazzy on a cage edge, leaving Krow to put in the boot. Krow isn't nearly the artist that Yazzy is and not only did he not injure the downed High Elf blitzer. He was caught and ejected for his efforts. Down two men, things got worse as in the next round Rodolfo took his chance and managed to injure Yazzy on a brutal block! Still staying in the game we managed to KO our second elf with a blitz from Mogg. The elves let off the pressure, but came back for one final shot at the ball, KO’ing Kogill. Luckily with only one man deep we were able to take him down before any further damage could be done. We finished the first half down all 4 goblins.

The second half we were lucky that one of the Miami star blitzers couldn't shake the cob-webs and had to stay out. Our bench of 3 was able to bring us up to 10 players against their 10. They received and immediately set to work withdrawing the ball, and taking pin-point shots where they had number advantages. Luckily our armor held out, but we were not winning the early exchanges. Their turn 2 they changed gears and instead matched up on the inside, committing several players to the scrum. Our Boks and Mogg were more than happy to have them at close range, even if we still weren't managing to inflict any noticeable damage. With the Elves mostly tied up in scrums and Drake Callender back deep they attempted to flip the field, but were only able to do so with Drake and star Catcher Josef Martinez. Our turn 3 we were able to use the scrum in the middle to our advantage to put Mogg in a better position to defend the other end of the field, and to allow more of our Boks to get engaged. We managed to KO a player, and pin a blitzer to the wall. Turn 4 was the pivot point. Josef blitzed Hizdoo, and took off up the sideline with more than enough speed to distance himself from our squad. Callender rolled toward the sideline. It looked like an easy run up for Callender, and a toss to wide open Josef was inevitable, but Mogg had a path to the ball carrier just barely in range. With Kookoo there to help him along, he rumbled ahead and managed to put Callender on the ground - stunned. Josef made some last effort heroics, backtracking to take out Hizdoo - again - and recover the ball. The Miami players dropped deep awaiting the pass if Josef could clear the scrum. The Bashers dropped into coverage awaiting the throw, while Ugg managed to dodge away and take a shot at Josef. He didn't put him in the ground, but the following turn Josef couldn't escape him. He dropped the ball in the tussle with Kookoo waiting right in its path. The newest player on the team, he managed to scoop up the ball and jog it in for the 1-0 victory, and the Bronze Division Title.
