#5 Arbutzz the Incredible – Dislocated Shoulder (-ST)
“A fascinating game.
My opponent plays with panache, coaching the Dark Elves with a style I am in awe of.
We were successful in our offensive drive, and able to create reasonable ball safety and some early chip damage.
Still, the great coach Panicoblack knows how to pull us apart. He tags our low agility pieces, and invades our cage several times.
Nuffle is not entertained by the elves and does not allow the sack, but the play is masterful. Pulling us apart, isolating our guard players in particular.
The elf did also kill our tackle MB blitzer twice, in the 1st half the apo fixes, in the 2nd half we bid him farewell.
On defence, the elves go staright up the guts, exposing our weak middle on T3. We did not place a guard or big to fortify this position. A mistake that could well have made it game over. Indeed, it was brilliant vision and well exposed.
Mistakes:
1) H1T2 did not fortify middle position, allowing easy clearance for elves.
2) H2T3 I left blitzer in contact with no support. Could and should have placed guard next to him, but I was too passive, leaving guard piece back.
3) H2T4 I block with a big, but... I should have performed blitz first, push ball into big for follow up block. Incorrect order.
Learnings:
1) Ball security is #1 when against Dark Elves. Fortify the cage. Turtle up field if necessary. We perhaps took too much width, but our opponent was magnificent in shaving orcs off and isolating.
2) Playing AS the dark elf, aggression is good, and fighting back is always a possibility.
Conclusion: Nuffle smiles on orcs with lucky chips early, and 1db cage sacks yielding little fruit for the elf.
Thank you Coach Panicoblack for a most interesting game. Your play was sensational.
