1. Heavy Guard Humans
Rarely have I had games where I've been matched in guard. This game we were, with a 3-0 MB swing as well. This made for a really interesting game of where the guard goes. In the first half we definitely got beat in most of these positioning battles. It may have been a foolish decision, but I decided to commit heavily early mostly because I felt like even though they had the combat skills to fight us, I didn't want to play a game where he got to use his movement combined with his guard to pick us off one by one. I would rather commit and let the dice start flying with us in the fight, and maybe get lucky with some pushes and both downs on his end, possibly get some removals on mine. He was able to take off down the edge after the commitment, but we did get the swings in. No positive results though. The decision to commit may not have been the wrong one, but we needed better width to prevent the easy run down the sideline.
2. 1TTD Research
I need to figure out how 1TTDs work. I've put it off for a long time, but it may just be time to run through some examples and see how it works. So to the 1000 Losses playbook we go, and probably BB2.
3. Removal Swing Second Half, Attrition
We started taking the numbers advantage in the second half, and once that happened we started to pull away. Coming back to the idea of the commitment early in the first half. I think that especially against a team like humans, over the long-term we should win those exchanges. We didn't in the first half, but in the second he did. That seems to be how many games have played out. This one was I was less sure of this because of all the MB by the opponent. We got lucky that they weren't able to get us off the field much, though the armor breaks were pretty often.
4. 2 Runners with Block
Found that this was really nice to have. I've only ever had both runners out when we've been down on players or needed to score. Having the extra movement was very nice.
