1. Rookie Orcs vs. Dwarves
The match up doesn't seem great for us, especially if the opponent knows how to place the Bigs to force 1D or -2D blocks. The defensive line-up second half by my opponent was a good example of why this can be rough for the Dwarves. There was a way to get a 2D block with the slayer, but it was a frenzy trap as well, and I was going to have to commit several players to do it. Perhaps this is an example of me getting better at the game because the decision to instead just put 3 on the line and give up the LOS I believe was the right choice, even though it's something I rarely do as Dwarves.
2. Opponent Offensive Drive
I really admire the efficiency of my opponent on offense. When the discussion of positioning comes up, I believe that this drive was a good example of how to use space, marking, and placement of players to take away assists for the best result. There was rarely ever a profitable blitz. He did offer a surf at one point on a lineman, but this even felt like a game within a game. I felt like he almost wanted me to surf the lineman because it would tie up so many players in doing so on the wrong side of the field. I also thought it was nice how he prepared for the side push up by moving his players up even though the ball was still in the center of the field as he started to flip sides.
3. Big 'Un Dodge, Long Beard Dodge
The only sliver of hope we had came from a back trailing longbeard that he had to dodge out a Big to get to. He got the dodge, but so did we afterward. We ended up with 1D on the ball, followed by 2 Frenzy 1Ds on the ball, re-rolled most of them, but couldn't bring him down. He had so many in position to field the ball most likely, but best case scenario: we bring him down, and the ball goes out of bounds and gets thrown toward our endzone to take away the score, or a struggle for the ball could've burned some turns as well. ”
