“A fun game against the great Legend Coach Panicoblack.

We are lucky, in that we can achieve a season objective to play against 3x legends. They are always great games for learning.

The Orcs did have opportunities, but in the end we were completely outclassed. How to improve? Let's see...

Learnings:

FIRST HALF

1. Defence set up is Chevron, maybe use flatter lines and S4 advantage? Maybe not yet, but a thought..

2. Coach Panico works side to side on attack. I like this, and think I defend OK to it.

3. T6 there is not much point in that last failed 1db. Better to leave standing. But small detail to learn from- the touchdown is scored by that player.

4. T7 is failed, but I still think order of operations correct. 2db (no block) to release more players before 1db blitz attempt.

SECOND HALF

We think we are in good position to draw, and this is the plan. Develop the drive, use numerical advantage. But it back fires. After game, spectator Coach Merry offers advices. What can we learn?

1. We move to side a little early- should have flat line defence and pressed to middle. The early pressure encouraged a shift to side.

So... middle more set up, roll blocks one way, fake and push on side, switch or keep push up middle as necessary.

2. The sack is well orchestrated- chain push to base cage, blocked away, dodge into sack, ball pick up then run out of reach.

3. I wonder if, prior to sack, there was a safer spot to put the ball? Perhaps more central behind LOS?

4. From T4 the game is over, and we play for learning. It was nice to score, but relied on a lucky dodge to do so. C'est la vie, it is Blood Bowl.

It was a fun game full of interest, however life has been tough for these poor Orcs. I am not sure I am getting the most out of this team.

Our first game back in over a week, and good to blow out the cobwebs. In the end we are outclassed by a superior coach, but it is nice to achieve a season objective. ✅”
