Quite a silly game. And the result is not a true reflection of how things transpired. We were 100% out played, and out coached.

There are some games where a draw can be considered a win, or a loss. For the Orcs, this was a winning draw, as we were lucky not to lose.

It is interesting- I did suffer from dice bias. It seemed we could only roll pushes and skulls, but the log shows even spread. Must remain humble.

Learnings:

1. Our offensive drive was stymied in a brilliant fashion from our opponent. His use of Guard Bull was sublime. I also underestimated their speed and mobility.

Blocking with Big Orcs. We roll the 1/9 fail on three occasions in turns 4 and 5. We re-roll them all, as we are desperate to ensure we can take territory. The drive is getting late and we must move forwards. Mistake? Can we do better?

T6 we miss a 55% chance of knock down to break the line. It would be 80% with re roll, which we would have done if available option. I think we would have scored there.

We then retreat, leaving a surf opportunity, as we need to direct play to sidelines. But defence was ironclad and only miracle plays allowed. Well shut down.

I do wonder... Big Orcs paired to sidelines... maybe a better strategy is keep paired with team mate, and sprinkled evenly across pitch.

2. Defensive drive. Attrition piles up, removals are thick and fast, and the orcs snowball. We defend as 9 orc vs 11 chaos from T2. Our strategy is to attempt some chip removal.

Acceptance of a both down of av10 vs av8 is perhaps a poor one, hinting at our desperation. Not re rolling a skull also results in orc casualty. It is now 8v11, but conservative re rolls whilst handy, does back fire.

T5 we are now trying to fix his bulls to place, and offer a little surf bait. The big orc may as well do that, as there is not much else for him.

T7, the Chaos are to secure the win, but hit the 1/9. Nuffle is cruel, and they deserved better.

3. Overtime defence. Orcs get a blitz! but kick off is deep, we are short on numbers, and after attempting a double gfi to leave orc unmarked, he fails and is KO. 8vs11. 31% of failure, not worth it, of course.

T2 the pressure pays off in terms of positioning, and ability to react. We fail to consider Guard skill and make a commitment for just 1db on ball. Poor calculation.

T4 More 1/9 (there is a theme here, and lesson to be learned...) burns remaining re-roll. But we have found before and after this that pows do exist for us... and we luckily to sack ball a 2nd time.

Recovery is good for Chaos, but slippery ball is the major assist to the draw. It was certainly not Orc coaching skill.

SUMMARY:

1. The lure of a S4, unassisted block comes with great danger. 1/9 snowballed the Orc early on, and haunted the Chaos at the death of the game. Beware.

2. Re-roll management, when blocking with these types of players, must be considered. Chaos, Khorne, Lizards, Big Orc etc.

The Coach Damology surely deserved this as a victory, and to make matters worse the tournament kicks went to the Orcs. Cruelty, and a shame. The Chaos Dwarves deserved much better.
