“A very poor game, where we are utterly dominated by a superior opponent.
So much so, we are left helpless and unable to continue play. Our strength pieces are tied up, our movement pieces are blocked and eliminated from the game, or smartly fouled out of contention.
What can we learn?
1. WIDTH
Set up was too narrow on offence. With more width, we may have had a little more protection.
We were too narrow, and as a result we were swarmed, based, bashed, and turned over..
2. LONER
Well, loner actions and especially a loner blitz is not a good idea. But we were left little choice due to being out positioned and out played by our opponent.
Bad options were forced, and even 2db are destined for failure if you do not have skills or re rolls.
3. BLITZ OPTION
As discussed, using a loner is not great. There was surf potential, but also backfire potential. My block piece was tied up, but that would have been a better option.
Why was block piece tide up? It was on LOS to take a safe block, which was never executed due to smarter positioning by opponent.
4. SET UP
Once again, needed more width. There were options for 2d blocks if they were allowed, and we could have made something of it I think.
5. SAFE & SENSIBLE
Play a safer gamer. More caution. Order of operations. Even when desperate. This was an example of a game where we were desperate, and made stupid plays which snowballed our situation.
In the end, we are beaten by a much better opponent. After Turn 1 the game is gone and we are asphyxiated out of the game. If we can correct turn 0 and turn 1 errors then there is a chance, but until then smarter opponents will take advantage”
