We go again into the Southern Wastes, learning to survive in this inhospitable environment.
Our objectives, goals, and plans, remain the same. But the Nobility have tricks up their sleeve to make life difficult.
Objectives
1. SPP on positional pieces. Priority is Mummy and Wight, secondary is Ghoul as they score more naturally.
2. Protect said positional pieces where possible. Do not let them die! This is just warm up.
Goals
1. 3db with the Mummys, aggressive blitzing with the Wights. Target lower AV peasants.
2. Score with Ghouls, hand off to Wights if possible.
Plan
1. Secure ball safely on offence, advance up the field to score on T8, maximising blocks along the way.
2. Sound defensive drive, minimising applied pressure to reduce risks to positional pieces.
Match Report
Some early blood to the Canetoads was welcome, with a Mummy induced casualty. However, we move towards a sideline and allow our cage corner to be based. Of course, this allows the 1db sack of our ball carrier.
Two scatter catches to Nobility, and we are in trouble. Compounding this is a Ghoul rush… fail… KO. There is a crack in our strategy starting to appear.
Chaos ensues, and our score is stopped. Nobility defence is top notch, and our attack scuttled.
The 2nd half we are able to recover an unprotected ball due to numbers advantage, but even then the Nobility find 2db sack attempt on our ball carrier. Even with re roll it is unsuccessful- an 80% sack that does not come off. Nobility are unlucky there, and we are warned.
Learnings
1. PROTECT
We did not do this well, allowing a 1db sack, and then 2db sack, on our ball carrier. We need to look towards better ways for protection, advancing up the field. Cage basing is not reasonable.
Summary
SPP generated on one Mummy, both Wights (skill up on one), and one Ghoul. BUT… again… zombies hog the casualty SPP.
We must protect the ball better in the SWL.”
