The Southern Wastes is no walk in the park, and once again we find a very difficult match up against the frustrating Nobility, ready to thwart all plans we have of SPP.
Objectives
1. SPP on positional pieces. Priority is Mummy and Wight, secondary is Ghoul as they score more naturally.
2. Protect said positional pieces where possible. Do not let them die! This is just warm up.
Goals
1. 3db with the Mummys, aggressive blitzing with the Wights. Target lower AV peasants.
2. Score with Ghouls, hand off to Wights if possible.
Plan
1. Secure ball safely on offence, advance up the field to score on T8, maximising blocks along the way.
2. Show more aggression on defence, using strength advantage to garner more blocks, and ghoul speed to harass.
Match Report
25 blocks with MB without casualty! We tried... but the Nobility were resilient. In fact, they took the bash to us, causing 3x CAS (including our MB blitzer..) to our paltry 1x CAS.
Our offensive drive is looking OK, until we move towards a sideline. Then the pressure comes, and we are sacked, and our drive comes to an end. This then forces us to be aggressive on defence.
A cruel failed Nobility pick up results in an opportunity for the Canetoads, however the stand firm skills frustrate us. We must be patient and apply slow pressure.
We are able to recover, and with time up sleeve, hand off to a Wight in need of SPP. There is more opportunity after the early score, but it does not eventuate, and after a consolation CAS, the game ends here.
Zombies, once again, steal the MVP SPP. Fireable offence.
Learnings
1. PROTECT
We are not good at this. Our mistake was leaving ball carrier in open, but we could have lined him up as xox for just 1db sack attempt.
Additionally, we must stay away from sidelines in general, and especially against stand firm nobility. Pushes do us no good. We must play the bash game and push the middle, whilst keeping some width for options.
2. AGGRESSION
It has been done to us, now we must try it. When opportunity presents, aggression is the only way. We could have used re rolls for rushes to mark off opponents in the later stages of the game, aiding our chances for touchdown spp. A lesson learned, and perhaps too mild and patient style of play.
My opponent will be exciting to watch in the SWL. Whena defensive team such as Nobility is played aggressively, it really is a headache. Plus, they are getting the SPP on the correct players, and will only be stronger because of it.”
