#8 Inglis – Seriously Hurt (MNG)
SWL CII Regionals- Game #2

SWL is brutal, and we have a feeling this was a mere entree to the main course.

Our 2nd game, and 2nd time we suffer the blitz! event to start proceedings. This time, a pow! on our BLODGE Ghoul. Welcom to the SWL indeed.

Our BLOCK skill advantage is cancelled by the Gnome WRESTLE, and our strength advantage is cancelled by the Trees and.... Morg...

With 3x S6 on the LOS, we cannot play to our style in this match. We seek some blitzes on the small gnomes, but in this game we are thoroughly out bashed. We had to seek a more mobile, agility approach.

Learnings

1. THERE ARE NO DICE

This is to say, have a plan that does not rely on them. Our team is built for bash, but when we come up against a team that can cancel our strength and block skill, we must rely on blood bowl basics.

Position, contingency, order of operations. In general, smart play must always be respected. Our dice were not terrible, but they were not all that helpful either. Create your own opportunities and do not wait for a hand out from Nuffle.

2. ZOMBIE MVP

So the MNG Zombie takes the MVP... Fair play. We relied on them heavily to protect our positional players. They fulfilled the role of meat shield well in the face of the Treemen and Morg blocks. This is something that may become a regular occurrence in the SWL.

3. MORG

We did not see the best of Morg, but neither did we see the worst of him. He took 3x casualties, and changed the way we could play the game. We made 32 blocks to our opponents 46. Morg did, however, claim TWO double skull blocks. The first was not at a critical time, but the 2nd did allow us to pressure the ball on our defence. It is not the last time we will see Morg.

Summary

SWL provides different challenges, and we will once again face small teams with mega star friends in the future. This was a warm up, and the worst is yet to come I am sure.
