“To round out our Blackbox season, we took it on the chin versus wood elves. The match up isnt ideal, and Bazaka is a great coach. Crazy thing happend but only really went in the elve's favor.
We had the ball fairly secure with our entire team around it on T5 or 6. I knew he could set up for a 1 die block, but I figured its a good chance of scattering near several players - should be good to stall my drive and decide if I can take a chance for a score. It bounces to the only spot where a single player tags the ball and the elves run away with it.
On his offense, he hands off or passes, the catcher snakes, and the ball bounces to the only square with an elf who then catches it - no turnover UGH! CMON MMMMAAAAANNNN.
As a bash coach, I know these ag coaches love seeing stuff like this so at least he had a good time with it. I knocked down a few elves, but didnt get much removal. I failed every KO roll until I was down 0-2.
But I did hand off to a skeleton that scored - that was kinda fun. And I stepped on a tree for a -1 str stinger (hell probably just go back to lawn and garden for another tree - no big deal - but it was cool to watch.
I really enjoyed watching my opponent move his players around and set up for his game winning ball punch. This is what a well-piloted elf team does -lots to learn from.
I set up blackbox this season toplay teams I dont normally play. I can see the appeal of tournament khemri where you plug in a star player. But for this format, I may as well just forfeit when I see a stacked AG team. I dont like that they cannot recover from a bad turn (or a really good one for my opp). At least thats been my experience.”
