In T2 an unnecessary GFI to try and threaten the ball with the sprint Gutter ends with a burned team re-roll and a BH. Next greedy action was in T4 when an 1db with a Gutter should prepare a Catcher surf but ended with a Skull, re-rolled into Skull. So dice were not that favourable here, but the root cause for the Problem was bad coaching.
We both Had some removals, but since his CAS rolls were more permanent than mine I ended up 8 vs. 11 after his score in T6. (2 KO-returns for the elves here and 1 for me)
I tried to secure the ball and set-up a scoring threat for T8... which worked out only due to pure luck: two dodges with the Gutter (4+, 2+), a catch with the Thrower (3+), a 4+ pass on the Gutter in the Endzone (2+ catch)... all without team re-rolls! And it worked!! (And even one KOed elf did not return.)
1:1 and 8 versus 10 in the pitch for the H2 kick-off. The mood got better...
I received and managed to clear the elven LOS. A Kill, a MNG and another KO. Furtunately the permanents were only journeymen. And with 8 versus 7 I felt much better to be able to win here. (Which was a little bit premature.)
After T2 it was only 7 versus 6 with another Gutter and an elven Catcher in the KO box.
Everything went fine until T7. I secured the ball with a Gutter close to my endzone and tried to set-up a cage for another Gutter in his half. All that needs to happen: A catch of the Thrower, a 2++ pass and a 2+ catch with the Gutter. But the Thrower did not catch. Not even with a team re-roll. Rollercoaster again. At one moment close to a win. Now threatened in my own half. Fortunately 3 players marked the ball and there were only 3 elves around. Nevertheless another T8 wonder needed to happen for the win. The plan was to Blitz free my own Blitzer from an elven Blitzer (luckily the one without Dodge), start a Gutter action with a 3+ dodge, a 3+ pickup and another 2+ dodge and the finally score with my Blitzer after a 3+ catch and two GFI. Again everything without team re-rolls. And again it worked again!!
As coach baz_machine said several times during the match: 'Nuffle gives and Nuffle takes.' For me it was the other way around. First he took and then He gave. Another example why you should not give up too easily.
Overall a very nice match, but I guess a draw would have been a more suitable result here.
