“Question of the day:
'What inducements can help an Elven Union team in anuphill battle?'
Despite the result, the game was pretty balanced and contrary to my expectations not dominated by removals. I guess this also answers the question how I could win this 3:0.
One heroic, but very lucky situation was the ball 'collection' of my prone Catcher from the Vargheist Tackle zone: 4+ dodge, 3+ dodge, 3+ pick up, 2+ dodge... costed me a (leader) re-roll, but he made it. Only to be knocked out by a 1db Thrall the turn after. ;-)
And it was his T6 when a - I guess - misclick changed the Half: The Vargheist tried a Blitz on my Dirty Player, but needed to perform a 6+ dodge before, which ended in a KOed Vargheist and an early turnover with the option to pass the ball to my positioned Catcher out of reach for every vamp.
H2 began with the return of five out of seven KOed players. Bad luck for the Vamps was the Runner and the Vargheist decided to take a longer break. Nevertheless we got two full teams on the pitch when I received the ball.
Despite my 2:0 score in my T5 nothing mentionable happend until right after the kick-off in his T5 when again the Vargheist failed a frenzy rush allowing me to put pressure on the ball. A failed rush right before the releifing pass out of my pocket allowed the 3:0 score with only a 2+ dodge and a 2+ pickup.
I guess it would have ended with a 3:1 if not the runner failed to catch (2+) a pass, while my Lineelf caught the scattered ball even while standing in two tacklezones.
In my T8 I only tried to prevent any damage to the team and finally used the wizard on the most threatening vamps.
The game was very entertaining. Thanks to coach vharter1976 and to nuffle who saved both our teams from permanent injuries.”
