Brutal, brutal game. No blitz! event suffered, but the combination of Morg alongside 3x other S5 things was very tricky.
Turning point #1. T5 of 1st half we do not protect the ball carrier, who is sacked and dead. We had ambitions of training this ghoul to a stat, perhaps even most TD award. Solution was to make some GFI. Simple.
Turning point #2. T4 of 2nd half we take 3db on ball with re-roll. It is 91% chance of success, but fails, and the score is made.
With 4 turns left, it is our 9 players vs 13, tasked with defending the draw. We sack ourselves with a failed GFI (97% success, failed) attempting to protect from blitz (like we should have done in 1st half).
We are then forced into a 56% play (with re roll) to jump, dodge, and blitz a snotling ball thief. Lucky.
Learnings
1. SNOTLINGS
There are just so many of them. To start against 14 players is very tricky. I think thinning the herd helped, but not to the point where we ever had traction in this game.
The additional numbers allowed them to control the pitch, along with strength advantage.
2. BLITZ TARGET?
We tried to bring number advantage down by hitting snots with tackle / MB, but to no avail. I do wonder, should the blitz target have been more valuable pieces like the Wagon, Troll, or Morg?
Our dirty player was missing, so want for hitting and fouling Morg was reduced. Perhaps for field position it could have been better.
3. DEATH
The ghoul death was due to an incoming block. We failed to protect it. This is Blood Bowl and we must learn to protect better. A poor play that was well punished.
Summary
We are lucky to escape from this game, but cannot help feel funny about it all. I know not how to be competitive against the beast that is Snotlings. We cannot bash them, or dash against them (due to superior numbers and pitch control). Good learning in a tough environment. ”
