#3 Usyk – Seriously Hurt (MNG) #4 Toney – Seriously Hurt (MNG) #2 De Leon – Dead (RIP) #6 Jones Jr. – Dead (RIP)
“A fun and interesting game against a wonderful opponent- the great coach Geggster.
With 28 RRR shared between us, it seemed like it could be a close match... Alas we are completely outclassed.
So, what to learn? We have been in abysmal form recently, so have taken to asking our opponent for advice.
The great Geggster recommends to keep practicing. It is true, we are becoming quite despondent, but will push forward and try more games.
So, from this game what can we learn?
1. RAIN
First thing, pay attention. It was raining, so the correct decision is to kick. We received, but did get lucky to pick ball up.
It was afterwards T3 of 1st half when we attempted a hand off with 25% failure rate that hurt us. It was a poor choice, and first nail in our coffin.
2. PROTECT
Well, we got lucky again, and able to move ball to safety. However, we do not GFI for fear of snaking. End result is we allow our ball carrier to be within range of blitz, which is successful. Final nail in the coffin, and game is lost from this point. We start with only 9 players the next drive due to snowball.
3. TOUGH DECISIONS
It is often frowned upon to re-roll an Ogre who bones. But in T7 of 2nd half I really, really should have. It is a 69% success to do it, and would have protected us much better, giving possibility to score.
Instead, we do not re-roll, and there is 2 free dice on our ball carrier. It was a tough decision we should have leaned into.
SUMMARY
So.. there are some small decisions to make (a little gfi here, take the re-roll here as upside is better than downside despite odds of success, pay attention to rain). But these small decison have big ramifications, and to get these decision right takes practice.
I will practice more and see where it takes me. It is a cruel learning curve, and a war we are not winning right now. ”
