First half, I kicked. I staggered the biguns so that at best there was a 1 die block, or 2 die but my opp had to commit more then 2 players. And it ended up working. I really liked my defense here. I took a risk on a goblin dodge for an assist to sack the BC and I went up 1-0 in the first half.
Second half was just dreadful. I set up woth 8 players to his full roster, pulled back, and hoped to find either an out OR a chance to just punt the ball. And I needed one block to go well on T4 to make this happen which was BD/BD, RR to DUB Skull. Opponent scored easily after burtalizing ork AV that didnt want to do anything.
I then set up with 7 players I think? Maybe 6. I knew I was just trying to stall for a draw. I didnt pull back because I didnt want the ball closer to my EZ. Again, ork AV just isnt doing anything. My last few blocks were single die skulls to end my turn. Thankfully we installed the tripwire to stop the opps last score.
Under these circumstances, happy for a draw.
Takeaways
- I know I pulled back with less players. But maybe I shouldve caged and advanced? I think if I have a threat even with lower player count it forces the opp to consider it. I'll try that next time.
- Failed 12/13 KO rolls. I can try to play as well as I can but I think soemtimes it's good to remember that failing this many recovery rolls is going to dictate success or failure on a slow moving team.
- First time I succeeded more rushes than my opp. Pretty cool.
- The ork thrower may be the second worst player in all of BB point-for-point BUT hes needed on an ork roster. The only reason I had any chance was because of him and goblins.
- Goblins either shined or killed themselves - 2 goblin dodge fails into KO. But a throw to a goblin was my only TD.
