“First win of the season for the Renegades. PROGRESS!
First half I kicked, got to re-set up some players, and misplaced the minotaur to be too close. I was thinking closer to flings and meals on hairy feet - BUT the tree was too close. He isnt going to rush twice and risk the root just to go sideways is he? No he did and mino was KO'd. I deserved it. Wrong placement for me and right call for my opp.
Aside from that blunder, which led to another guy getting surfed while I regrouped, I liked how I managed the defense. The trees made a cage, and I did a goblin 1 die blitz. I shouldnt have RRd here because the puch was enough. The trees were tagged and away form the BC, allowing some room to maneauver for elf shananigans.
I stole the ball and scored. Looks like a delf with dodge can get away from MA 5 flings pretty easily once hes clear.
My offense was a blunder on my part. I ended up pulling it out for a score. But I really should have just drew back and waited for my opp to have to march his trees down the field - burning RRs on roots and whatnot. I instead tried to lead with the troll and like many troll leads, he goes dumb at a critical juncture so I had to pull back.
This is the second game where I took advantage of spped to pull back and look for another opening. When my opp gathers all the flings to one side to murder/surf the troll and his escort, I took advantage of it to make a risky dash on the other side of the field.
Takeaways
- I am recognizing when I need to pull back and re-assess instead of trying to force something to work.
- Work more on minotaur placement. The opp will burn RRs early to get at him if needed.
- The rat is a great escort for the elf on this team. When the elf went down in the second half, the MA7 was able to recover and score.
Chewblocka is a fun and awesome coach and I look forward to our next match. ”
