Whoa. What a game. Vampires are crazy, and Coach Apojar plays with panache and style, steering the Dumpster Fire.
Free Bribes on kick off event is a fun one, and generally equal to both coaches. We were not able to remove, but it did make us play a little to the foul game, attempting to take out the big Varg.
The Dumpster Fire used great gazing to get a 2db sack on our ball. We were lucky to retrieve (4+ pick up and dodge out of tackle zone, 39% chance it fails..) and score T8. BUT a wind back clock kick, combined with stunning vision from Coach Apo, allowed the counter score.
Learnings
1. LAYERS
When playing Vampires, we really need a 2nd layer of protection. They will gaze free the vamps, who will gaze down the screen. Exceptional, and tough to stop.
Lot's of 3D thinking required, and we are still getting to grips with 2D thought process.
2. SCORING THREATS
Coach Apojar creates 4x scoring threats at end of first half. We tag off, screen off, 3 of them... guess which one scores? Yes, the 4th. It was blond spot as we were looking at the main Vampire runner, and did not recognise the danger.
Conversely, at end of 2nd half, we did put a player in range of score as a contingency for failed ball pick up. Luckily it was not needed, but there it is. Something good to come of it.
Summary
Blitzkreig got lucky here. Some sensational vamping, with some solid orc play. Could well have gone the other way, and maybe unlucky for Dumpster Fire that it did not. ”
