“My God, this team's first win. And it only took dumb luck to do it.
First half I elected to kick. Ive been trying this out against vamps where I deploy deep, hope to kick deep, and let them feed and burn RRs coming to me on the offense. They may eventually score, but by the time theyve gotten to scoring range its harder for them to stall because they run out of gas. It worked on defense for the most part. He had to score early and used a bunch of RRs to make the TD.
When I received with 3 turns left, I got an extra turn on the KO result and things were looking up. The removal started kicking in. And I was in a position to score. I then snaked the EX for a fail TD. Doh! But where nuffle taketh, sometimes Nuffle giveth.
Second half I scored I think on T6. I couldve stalled for a draw. But I decided to chance it since he also had 5 KOs. He then succeeded 5 KO rolls and moles under the pitch. Looked pretty hopeless. But some removal on feeding and no vamp rerolls worked in my favor. Follow it up with a dodge by a lineman into 4 TZ, single die block to pop the ball in the EZ, then a jump to the ball to pick it up and only needing 1 RR for all of this.
Team's first win, I'll take it however I can get it and be happy wiht it.
Takeaways:
- Ref was a dingus. 4 foul attempts and 3 expulsions.
- Block mino shows his horns again. I never got to set up for a 3 die block but didnt need it.
- Vamps are still fairly unfun to play against. My best strategy is to set up as IF the ball will be stripped and then hope it bounces into multiple TZs. When my best tactic is accepting an inevitable strip sack, it's just a very unbalanced team. If I wasnt rolling bonkers in the last turn, I wouldnt have won. Hypnogaze is way too good and makes any defense non-existant.
