“What a match, very tough. Woj Nurgle improves to 6/6/0 - best I have done with any team in the box.
First half I recieved. I took the ball deep and had a lot of players next to it. I tried to use the MB/Block/DP to bully the other team around but only got 2 KOs and a murder by the end of the game. At one point, I could have dodged on a 3 plus and moved forward. But I made the decision to block instead, hoping to add some attrition to elves that tagged the cage. I got one cas out of it, but next turn it set me up for getting in trouble. The elves stalled my drive, took the ball, laughed at me, and scored.
Second half, I didnt hold out much hope. Im up 3 players I think BUT, doesnt matter with AG teams - theyre still dangerous at 4 players. My opp held back which made sense. He rushed a catcher forward and I beat it in the face and babysat it on the sideline. I kept swapping out babysitters to assist the middle. my only strategy was to gum up the middle and tag and hope his luck started to fail. Late in the second, my opp got a snake on a dodge and it let me set up some blocks that kept his team contained for about 2 turns. I tried a fiddly crowd push to get my blitz option open but I miscounted my squares. I eventually got a lucky dodge, rush, blitz when I flushed his thrower out of the backfield. The crowd threw it to my bloater that decided he wanted the ball? Oh, sore bud. He had it for a turn until a single die I think took him down. The last few turns were pretty exciting and could have gone either way as the ball bounced in a scrum. But how about a beatman pick it up and throw it for a TD - why not?
Blessed with a draw on this one.
Takeaways:
- I am working on the crowd pushing for position and it worked the first time I did it. I just didn't have enough players to cover the ball carrier. Im still good with my decision to put him on the sideline because at least there, even the other coach doesnt know where the ball is going if the guy gets sacked.
- I dont regret leaning into removal for this team even though the dice for it didnt really work out for this match.
- Whew, single die 1s are all the rage for my guys. But it's not how many siccesses, its baout getting them at the time you need them.
Opp coach was fun to chat with while playing, would def play again. ”
