This report is written in retrospect, but I do remember feeling both proud of the play, and fortunate in a number of circumstances to get there.
CONCERNS:
1. Entering this match against a stronger opponent, and with only one ghoul, did concern me. But Sideshow also pointed out he was missing a blitzer.
2. Heat. Against elves, as Undead, this can be disaster. Losing a ghoul to heat, then we cannot do the job well at all. Tricky...
FORTUNES:
1. We receive ball first, allowing us to try for a little damage, and score whilst heat has not taken hold.
2. 41% sack on our ghoul does not come to fruition. That could have been game over, and the moment is not lost on us.
3. Heat. We lost just 1 wight on defensive drives, and on the drive that didn't matter we lost the mummy and ghoul, but for OT drive we only lost a zombie. Lucky.
4. Bags the ball for OT. Whoever won this coin toss had advantage, and most likely wins the game. We cannot stop elves scoring, so to receive is big. There was still strong chance we could be stopped, but we made it work.
GENERAL PLAY:
1. Fouling. It was a blitzer on floor, armour reduced to 6, and we had number advantage. We are sent off. I wonder if wise?
2. T4 blitz mistake, only 1db. Not punished, and in fact rewarded, but not great. We misplaced our Guard mummy. Not sharp.
LEARNINGS:
1. ELFING
We watch Sideshow coach the elves to get some tips. There is great pressure on the back of our cage, basing ball carrier. This directs our blitz backwards, rather than forwards.
Last turn sack attempt. Ball is caged, but it is a simple 4+ dodge with dodge, into a 1db, with block. A 44% play (with re-roll). Not a bad chance at all. I will remember for my elfing.
