“Brutal game. Not in blood, but just traction.

Completely outplayed by the great Rijssiej. These are good learning games, but the art is in identifying where to do better.

So, where did this game go wrong?

1. BALL PROTECTION

On our offence, we did a poor job of covering the ball. Turn 1 we were very lucky with a number of GFI.

But on T2 we chose to move an orc away from the ball to solidify the protection of midfield. This results in loss of the ball from sneaky goblin- a magical play we could not even dream of. Masterful from Coach Rijssiej.

2. FAILED DEFENCE

Cannot put my finger on it exactly... I think it was to do with not being strong enough through the middle.

We got sucked to sidelines, then the weak middle is eventually where the break came, and there was nothing we could do to chase down.

Perhaps... not base ball carrier, but sit 2x square in front, is better? Forces a dodge, at least, maybe. Think on it- this mistake is T8.


3. MORE FAILED DEFENCE

We are scored on again, but how?

A little honesty, we had given up hope after this. So we played aggressive, and based heavy. Obviously, this ends with orcs on the floor (our orcs) and space to penetrate.

The sideline it is this time, with opponent taking the space there, screening well, even if we are able to put some pressure on.

Int he end the damage was done and we could not stop the score, as the territory loss was too great.


So... there's the things to work on. Get better at protecting the ball, and defense I guess. We are having trouble with that recently. And scoring too I suppose, haha. Chain pushes were fun, but not smartly done. So thats some positive that can be taken. ”
