“Got pretty trashed by this elf coach again and rightfully so because he/she is good.
First half I recieved. I tried to use the block and the higher str to remove a few pieces and got nowhere. Lots of very low dice on the INJ. I used something I saw artemis use where you just tage the elves and move a chunky fornt line forward, leaving a few to guard the rear. Its supposed to force one dies or 2 dies up hill. And it did, opp just succeeded every single one of them (3 in 1 turn, even a few 1 dies against a block player with a player that didnt have block). The ball went loose, and the bounce was unfavorable. I think I scacked the elf carrier, and it bounced to another unfavorable spot. At this point, game was fairly out of hand as the elves recovered and used their speed to screen an eay TD for the last few turns.
For elf offense, they had a few tagged and did a screen. The carrier was a blodger. I had a shot at it and rolled another 1 on the rush. This set up the elves for moving form side to side, creating a screen. I managed to get in it and tage the carrier. he succeeded another 1 die block and dodged for a TD.
Down 2, I figured a quick TD was the only remote way I was tying so I tried for a TTM. Troll had been uncooperative all game and same here as he tried to eat the carrier. The elves recovered and tried to use the sideline as a cage. The goblin dodged in and pushed the carrier out. Ball landed close enough to the thrower who picked it up and passed to the goblin for a score.
Takeaways:
- Each time I play versus a legend status, the dice are truly legendary. Means I cant make any mistakes and have to more conservative than usual moves in the box when I draw them I suppose.
- I was down 2 big uns which hurt. I think my line moving strat would have been more effective with them in play.
- I like the line pushing thing, gonna try it again at some point.
- Goblins shine in loss - 1 goblin on an ork team is a necessity IMO.
- I know I didnt play a very good defense when I was down 1-0. I figured if I wasnt aggressive, they could have just drew back. So I think in that instance it was the right play even with bad odds against.
- A very frustrating loss. I want to put together things I have learned and watch it bear fruit. But I can't do that because the dice just tilt in these matchups constantly when my opp has a higher rank than I. I'm not saying it always will happen or anything - just waiting for that NOT to happen at some point.
Very well played by opp, would def play again. ”
