Pre-game thoughts:
- An elf roster with multiple tackle pieces and blodge looked like lots of trouble. IM not really missing any pieces and I have a tackle of my own and the Ptail (for what its worth). I think team wise it's about even from the start.
First Half Thoughts:
- I received and had a few pieces in the back more which helped.
- I had 5 on the line, but by design I wanted to blitz with the rogre and move after with him so he wasnt stuck on an island.
- I was careful not to let the rogre get stranded on his own island. I took blitzes early with him a few times I think but it was to make sure he could use the rest of the MA to stand behind the screen or get to a better place.
- My first time picking up the ball was a failure. I used a RR here even though I did the set up right. I probably should not have as I had coverage. But only with a screen - was just envisioning an early elf cage crash.
- I miscounted the squares when the elf blitzed the blodger near his EZ and knocked him down. This forced me a turn early to score even though I recovered and got the first TD. This is my failure.
- I was very lucky on removal early. But this came from a suggestion from my friend when he analyzed one of my other replays - take the blitz with the MB piece. Thats what he is there for.
- Opp had a few turns to score. I set up back a bit with the chevron someone showed me. It gave me opportunity to tag and blitz. I never got the catcher down, but he snaked for the score. I am going to take another look at these turns in particular because I am not satisfied with how I handled them.
- Opp caged up while using a few elves to go downfield which makes sense. I used the columns, but I made them a little jagged and I think that was my mistake. I should have just went one space back with true columns I think. OR tagged, put some safeties in the back, and forced him to roll dice. Im not sure on this one.
Second Half Thoughts:
- I used the chevron defense again. Lost a gutter to officious ref which hurt defensive early positioning.
- I think I got a blitz here and took out an elf. This may have been the end of the first half? My opp also got a blitz on my possession following his score.
- I dedicated most of the team to defense, and floated a blitzer forward to flush out the thrower from the backfield. I know with high elves, they can and will stall with a deep thrower if you let them.
- Opp scored pretty easily on T3 I think. I think it was a run in with a blitzer. But I pressured enough to leave a lot of time on the clock. AND I think I tagged as much as I could. I used the wr/SB gutter to make the T3 something he had to roll for at least for the score.
- On my possession, the opp blitz threatened to disrupt a lot of things. I was out of RRs, again using them on rushes from the previous turn. But the perilous 1 on the ball pick up did not happen. I had the skaven gather on the top of the screen as a unit and made sure the rogre was with us.
- After that cage, opp tagged it and I went downfield to make another cage. Eventually, nothing cray wirth noting here, gutters ran in and scored.
- Opp had 2 turns to score. On my last turn, I tagged I think everything. The catcher failed the 3 plus RR catch.
Overall Thoughts:
- I liked a few of my turns. I already notice the improvement in my play by having others analyze my replays. That aside, I was incredibly lucky to walk away with a win.
Opp was fun and is a veritable bloodbowl legend so, honored to have the opportunity to play. ”
