- Strating vampire team with a big guy and only 2 RRs versus a fling team with a chef. I liked my odds on this IF the chef worked. If it didn't 2 RRs is risky for 3 vamps and a big guy but doable because he has a bench.
First Half Thoughts:
- Vamps received and I think failed a catch or a pick up pretty early. The chef snatched all the RRs so every move for them was a risk.
- I used the flings in the beginning to try to gang up on a few pieces. I probably could have tagged more and risked geting hit to trigger more bloodlust rolls instead. I'll have to think on this.
- I tried to prioritize dodging for position. But like turns 4-7 I think I failed my third 3 plus RR dodge every time. If were compounding odds, thats pretty bad but not "terrible bad". Maybe there's a moment where dodges arent working and you go for targeted blocks instead? But I dunno, I think I just have to follow the right moves and then the odds with it. 89 percentile is something I will always got to the casino with.
- I was able to set myself up for a toss in the end of the first. But I think I may have been able to move a fling downfield earlier? I know we always plan on failure - maybe part of that is planning for a possible good toss/bad landing from another player?
- Vampires with no skills or RRs is tough to watch - its like harder Khorne TBH.
Second Half Thoughts:
- I know I set up pretty deep. I have had experience dealing with vampires and it takes more than running water to deal with them. I liked my choices here. I had the 2 one space in front of the ball for the possible flub. I picket it up and made a big blobby cage thing which is the best way I have found to deal with hypnigaze - plan for it to work and set players around to hope you can make the bounce inconvenient.
- Rolled a few snakes on dodges and rushes, but I felt like those turn were answered by my opp failing something (dub skull or whatever).
- I got real lucky with the catcher late in the second half surviving 3 2 die blocks. I think instead of stalling a bit, I should have just thrown the fling here. This was an error on my part I think.
- chef again stole all the RRs which ended up being the biggest game changer.
Overall Thoughts:
- I think starting with the big guy vampire is a bit meh. Although I thought it was impressive that he can still frenzy and hit when he failed BL - kinda unfair lol.
- I need to be a little more aggressive with moving forward in these situations. It ended up working out but I got real lucky on those catcher hits. I think he eventually went down but I was able to recover.
Good match with a skilled opp - would def play again. ”
