Pre game tactic was to play for variance. I took claws Wilhelm, and planned to do as much fouling as possible with dirty sneak ghoul.
I was up against a much better coach with a much better team, so hoping for some removals was best bet.
FIRST HALF
We defended, and were quickly whittled down to just 5 players. Stopping the score was not an option, so we kept our fingers crossed we would not lose too many players to serious injury.
At the same time, we were also lucky to get some CAS courtesy of Wilhelm, so entered the 2nd half down on the scoreboard, but up on numbers.
Mistake: blitzing with my Sneak Ghoul to force a chain push, but it was against a stand firm orc. I used markings this game, but still made this mistake. Not good for Cup game for sure.
SECOND HALF
Oh dear... we dared to dream... and like Icarus we did fly too close to the sun...
We set up poorly with players on the LOS, and suffered a Perfect Defence. Learning #1: consider perfect defence, as well as blitz!
We then chose both down on a mummy block, but this mummy did not have block... So our momentum was lost, but this is just a silly mistake. Learning #2: sharpen up.
T6 is an interesting one... I decided not to GFI out of range of the blitz, and instead try to dodge a ghoul to screen. The 89% dodge failed, and 26% blitz succeed. I think it was the right play, but is possibly the point where the game went beyond our reach.
MONKEY SEE
Watching Solaris was nice too. He prevented me from getting a nice foul to his orcs, which eliminated half of my game plan.
He also posed many small problems which were not nice to have to overcome. Very annoying, and many of them, like snotlings. They did add up and forced me to make poor decisions or roll dice to failure.
SUMMARY
In the end I had fun, learned something, and ticked an objective to enter 3 Majors in a season. All turns were under 4min. Good times. ”
