- I focused more on MB and block for vampires, elves, and other dodgey teams I keep seeing. My opp is a better control team with more guard. Knowing this, I think my opp has the edge here and I am looking at a draw at best.
First Half Thoughts:
- I used all the lessons I learned from my other ork match a friend of mine critiqued and applied them here. And I am pretty happy with the results overall.
- I used a layered screen and went back and forth until I saw an opening on T6. I managed to move everyone in for the ball carrier to be relatively safe. I save a RR for the impending 1 on the rush and then snaked it. So here, I like the opening I found and the plan, but the dice didnt work out. I think my mistake on this turn was I should have moved the troll and a few biguns first that were just in the backfield - it was time to tag and take some hits and I messed up the act order. Had I not done that, troll would have been dumb but maybe I would have made the rushes?
- Opp took the ball pretty easily I think. But there were too few turns to capitalize with a score.
- Opps guard is the better build here and he used it well except - def worth noting to take a few more guard early on next time. The build is my mistake - PTSD from vampires in the box making me stack on MB I guess?
Second Half Thoughts:
- I used an aggressive chevron defense for deployment and Im really liking this formation.
- Ball was kicked deep in the rain so I had a chance, esp with most of the opps team stacked on the LOS.
- I did a really weird 7 man crowd push to hit my opps troll forward that got a little ahead of the line and I spent a few turns babysitting him hoping he would stay down. For the most part he did. Ever since Ive been scolding myself for leaving bug guys on an island, Ive been looking for opportunities to put my opps on an island and this one worked out. This would not have been possible without a deep kick.
- I used a series of crowd pushes to pressure my opps ball carrier on the side which worked well.
- I used another crowd push to get my bigun and troll over to my opps thrower and blitzer that retreated. I got a few hits on the thrower but they didnt land unfortunately.
- In the last bit of desperation last turn, because the throw in was unfavorable, was to pass to the big un, and then hand off big un to big un - asking a lot in the rain and in this case too much. But I had an opportunity, so I'll take it.
Opp played very well and I learned a lot from them, would def play again. ”
