#6 Alivia Atgur – Dead (RIP)
- Having played this build before, I feel the edge in this match goes to who wins receiving. If I have to take first turn blocks and then a DP+2 I'll be in trouble.
First Half Thoughts:
- Whew, turns 3 and 4 every ogre went dumb. And I ended T4 I think with a snake after they all went dumb for a 2 plus dodge. However, I feel I handled these successfully. Like when they all went dumb the first turn, I didnt blow a RR just on principle. I made a cage/screen for the carrier. When they allw ent dumb again, the plan was to take what was left and make another cage but I snaked the dodge.
- I tried to make sure after losing the ball, that dwarves were tagged. I was up players from a kill and a ban and I had rookies to replace lost snots for the next half. This worked well. Normally I dont consider a non-score on my scoring drive successful, but handling the disaster turns was successful.
- I leanred that sometimes, tagging a few expendable snots to stop dwarves from moving is required.
Second Half Thoughts:
- With a banned roller and the opp setting up 7 players to my full roster, I felt pretty good about this.
- Opp failed a block early I think or a dodge, cant remember. And I rushed the backfield and even made a screen in front of his line. I learned to try to separate the opps team from my last match with welfs. It didnt work, but it made the opp use a lot of valuable RRs just to pass the ball to a player on the LOS.
- Using attrition, I eventually got the ball and scored. Nothing crazy to note in the rest of the turns. The boneheads stopped being so plentiful and the team took control of the field.
Overall Thoughts:
- DP/SG snot is MVP. That little guy murdered his fill.
- Last game of the season for my ogres and with only 3 losses in the box, I feel pretty good about this one. I know I need improvement in initial set up for receiving. Part of me wants to deploy forward in case of a shallow kick and a blitz. The other part of me wants to deply back for a deep kick. havent quite come to terms with that yet.
