- Anytime I see multiple big guys guard pieces, I get nervous with lizard. Since I focused on block spam and IM missing the Guard krox this match, I'm even more nervous. There's also 2 tackle to deal with my skinks. With all of this in mind, I give the undead a slight advantage, but I dont feel a win would be way out of reach for me eother.
First Half Thoughts:
- My opp received. I set up in the defensive chevron a friend suggested to me earlier and Ive been using it for a while to prevent side break outs. I may not have had to worry as much abouot it here since theres only 2 M7 pieces?
- Opp set up a cage with a blodge ghoul. I have learned with cages that they work until you start ganging up on them.
- I spent a few turns early basing part of the cage and some of the outside of it. I was willing to sacrifice a few skinks to keep the guard mummies from being involved for a turn or so.
- After an opp turn over (I forget what happened), I set up my blitz and then blocks to maximize the hits on the ball carrier. And I got lucky on an early block to take him down. After I surrounded the ball and tried to pick it up on a 4 plus with RR and failed, it bounced to a dangerous spot. So in this instance, I think the pick up attempt may have been my failure. I could have surrounded it, allowed my opp to block me on it to watch it scatter wherever. I'll keep this in mind next time.
- I was able to recover the ball and score with skinks. I think I needed just a dodge at the very end of the half.
- I got very lucky hitting the ball carrier. But it's worth noting that with chain pushes, I set myself up to hit the ball carrier more than once in that turn. I think my only failure here is not having a tackle piece - maybe less block next time?
- I was given a shot at fouling the blodge ghoul and it worked out. This reminds even when fouling or blitzing on a final of the first half to keep my important pieces back esp if I need them for the next drive.
Second Half Thoughts:
- I set up a screen a space away before trying to pick up the ball. This is crucial to make sure it doesnt bounce forward, dangerously, off one of my pieces on a flub (and I did flib the pick up in the rain).
- Opp rushed forward as they should. With only 2 ghoul and a wight, and everything else being kind of slow, I thought I would have an easier time getting away. But, when you base a skink with a dangerous tackle piece, it makes you act more cautiously I suppose?
- I did a chain push to get the skink ball carier free. These moves are becoming more automatic for me with all the prractice I have been doing.
- I messed up critically and didnt pay the ultimate price for it when I allowed the opp to make a few 1 die blocks to blitz me with the block/tackle zombie. It was a great move on my opps part to recognize the opportunity and urgency. I was so concerned with staying away from the ghoul, I didn't count on the 1 dies to free up the blitz.
- I think I played the rest of the half well. There's not a whole lot else worth mentioning - basically me running away with a skink to the tune of Benny Hill, while a mean tackle/MB wight chases him down.
- The rain was a factor - I burned many RRs on picking up the ball. But it's expected in the rain I think.
Overall Thoughts:
- Opp played very well. Removals didn't start stacking until the game was out of reach. I feel my crowd pushes, defensive set up, and screens were on point for the most part. But I did get away with luck on the recovery after the turn where the zombie blitzed my ball carrier in the second half.
Opp was awesome and knew what they were doin - would def play again. ”
