Pre-Game Thoughts:
- IM not too worried about the claw spam - blitzers might be in trouble. The tackle dude is an issue but there's only 1. I give myself the edge on this with the speed and relative skills.
First Half Thoughts:
- Lets create the worst possible environment for moving the ball - pouring rain plus moles under the pitch. Also forced to receive so just a bad start overall.
- I used the dakka on my offense. I figure slower pieces, ogre may not wanna move. It works for the most part but I think in conditions like this where I need to traverse large parts of the pitch on a breakout - I may forgo the dakka in the future because of the moles and the rain. I think this strategy overall was a bad choice, but I carried it the best I could.
- I moved a few cages and a screen. I was pretty happy with most of my team being on the bottom of the pitch in early turns on the first breakout.
- I resorted to the dreaded sideline cage on my offense. I only use it as a last resort for this reason - it basically just buys you a turn and some forward progress, but you get screwed when the opp tags everything. Maybe it was too soon, couldve waited back a turn and regrouped.
- Blodge and wrestle dodge did nothing in the first half. The tackle pieces wasnt the one knocking them down. But blodge isnt necessarily defensive - it only increases your odds a little bit - I basically lost a few important coin flips BUT expected in a way. Im lucky if it works out and unlucky if it doesnt - just life in general.
- I think my biggest thing was pushing ahead a turn early and maybe I should have gone south instead of north on the pitch?
Second Half Thoughts:
- Things WERE looking up. The rogre killed something first block.
- I tagged a bit on the opps progress which was a thick screen near the LOS. It worked for the most part.
- I recognized an opportunity to surf the block tackle pieces after a 2 die uphill. I moved the gutter near in case it all went south. So in making this decision, Im pretty happy with it.
- There was a turn of a few 1 die blocks, and then 2 die blocks where 3 players were removed. It was ONE of those turns and it just jacks the team completely. Those removals roll average instead, and Im still in a decent position to tag any cage.
- I was in a position to do a tough OTTD so ive come far enough to recognize that at least. Couldnt do anything in the rain, whether a catch or a failed sure hands pickup.
Last game of the season, thank goodness. It was a better seaosn than the last blackbox season for rats so progress! Coach was a great opp and fun to talk to, would def play again. ”
