- I give the edge to dwarves because of the block. My game can end at any point with a few BD/BD results. They get a few removals and now its even worse for me. IMO I would be lucky to get a draw here.
First Half Thoughts:
- I set up fairly close and I think this was a good choice. I had to kick and the opening block already murdurs a player.
- I tried around T3 to base the line dwarves. My thinking was to force a few 1 dies, maybe he gets a push here or there, and I can start muscling inward. But I underestimated the 1 die successes, and the 2 die successes uphill. Maybe I should have just held back and let him move forward and base first?
- After the first 6 blocks, I was already down 2 players and no regens so positioning was near impossible.
- I had his runner pinned with a TG. This was probably my only good turn where I liked my decisions. It forced a few 1 dies, to set up a 1 die block to free the runner.
- Dwarves score easily. I try to potato run a thrower on T7 which failed because it should have.
Second Half Thoughts:
- 8 players to a full roster, KO fails, and a deep kick. Im already on the backfoot.
- I have a screen and set 2 a space away form the bal before the pickup. I adopted this form a friend of mine because a failed pickup doesnt bounce the ball off your screen and on the wrong side of things.
- 2 turns of failed pickups, and then in the second half the only die roll for blocks I had was a both down. I basically wasnt allowed to participate. Good things are how I set up the screen and gave myself 2 riskless oppotunities to pick the ball up and I failed all of them. I had TGs up front keeping most of the dwarves busy but down 3 players its a prayer that they can handle everything while im not moving advancing the ball at all. Similarly, a dwarf troll slayer rushed forward, scooped up the ball, and then scored - showcasing the kind of game this was.
Overall Thoughts:
- I think my thoughts on the matchup make sense. Even a 2 die uphill with block is favorable versus an opp without the skill.
- I put as many of the team as I could afford in the back with the ball. But it wasnt enough due to removal.
- TGs can be good at tarpitting, I was pretty happy with that.
Opp played a great game and got the win. Gonna go watch a few others play TGs before rolling these guys in the box again. Im not happy with most of my decisions.
