“A debut win for this coach against the mighty Tomb Kings.
In truth, we are very lucky, on a n umber of fronts. Some angles we played for, others fell into our lap.
The unfortunate mis-click in the opening turn for Tomb Kings gave us a little more agency. It is never fun when this happens.
Learnings:
1. RED DICE
We have observed that it is not always such a bad idea to take the uphill blocks, with a block player.
It worked very well in this game, which is lucky. In the past we have rolled many skulls with this strategy, but today not so much.
On one occasion it allowed us access to a 1d blitz on ball carrier.
2. TAG
With orcs, the AV10 certainly helped. We suffered 53 blocks without casualty, although in the 2nd half we had inferior numbers.
The process of tagging the S5 Guardians away from the play, or to pressure their cage, was successful in parts.
3. MOMENTUM
Recognising the momentum shift, especially in 2nd half, helped us to change play styles.
We had a chance to be aggressive to the ball and cage, but coach Lakai surfed us on the sidelines and bashed us from the pitch. This forced more desperate measures to slow the advance and stop the score. ”
