#9 'Eadslasha – Seriously Hurt (MNG)
Brutal and frustrating match, with only myself to blame.

Still, lots to learn from.

1. RUSH

Not old school GFI.. I entered this game rushed, and started it with work distractions leaking into family distractions.

I will never do this again. It stole the enjoyment and my ability to concentrate, and snowballed my mindset.

Slow play, poor decisions, yuck.

Instead, I will only play if I can be certain of no (or minimal) distractions. Forfeit is a much better alternative, than playing in this way.

2. RUSH

Yes, this time the old school GFI. I identified in my last match with the great Java, that one more rush could have helped.

It is the same here, one more GFI to secure the score. The game was already over by that point, but it is a learning. Be bold, take the risk when required, assessing opponent ability and security (through RR) to prevent score.

3. RUSH

Well, rushed. I felt this way through my turns. Although my concentration was split for the early stages of the game, I felt rushed.

It is a tactic my children fall into at chess with older opponents, snapping the stop clock quickly. They fall into the same speed and make mistakes.

I am not as quick as Java, perhaps never will be. And must accept I will take 2-4min turns. If one or two are timed out, then that is better than 4-5 bad turns where I have not played well.

Accept my level is a much lower ability, I do not have the bandwidth for quick autopilot moves, do not rush, and games will be more enjoyable.

4. DEFENCE

I am struggling with this.

Java skins me like a ripe mango, cracking open the sideline where he can screen off and score. It is masterful, and I do not know how to stop it.

Conversely, I do not know how to organise my own attack to overcome defence. Java uses the mummies to tie us up, create additional blocks, and in the end we are bashed from the pitch and down on numbers.

Pressure was applied through marking, re rolls wasted to get out of contact, and then as a result we did not have the bravery for the critical GFI.

Also, when ball carrier broke away, south would have been better. Creates only 1db, which is 55% with re roll. Could also have screened off with free orc blitzer. Stupidity, poor play, borne of frustration.

Summary: Don't start matches unless you can actually play them. Don't do stupid stuff.

Also... use auto marking... completely forgot I had a block lino until I saw the post game injury list. And strip ball skeleton? I need to sharpen up.

#16 Howor Yellow – Seriously Hurt (MNG)
TBH you did outblock me, and at the same time also did break less armour than I did, so there's that as an excuse

a couple of things with your play, which I think is much better than you say

at some point, during H1, you had the MB guy in contact with a mummy, and saw you stand up guys and bring supports, I felt a MB hit coming on the mummy, instead you blitzed backwards with another orc to free up, among others, the MB blitzer
much better to move than guy who blitzed towards my stalling handful of players, maybe even blitz with him one of the screens, or if you wanted to free up even more people, the MB guy was a good candidate to blitz the mummy off. Going away from the action took some pressure off me.

in H2, you wanted to blitz off a skeleton in order to free up players, good choice because you were pretty low on men at that point (but if you reached overtime you'd have had 2 rounds of KO rolls with a beer), and I think that blitz was the right call there and then, great situational awareness
you blitzed it so that the skeleton ended up in contact with the ball, even spent a reroll on that. Always plan for the push, and plan for the fail. Dub skulls on that reroll? drive over. The key bit there was to blitz from a different direction. That would have left you with 2 guys to screen the ball off, and a score next turn (hopefully)

I agree that being in the zone is great for concentration, I sometimes rush matches too, play them at the worst times or when tired after work etc.
let's schedule the next one after a spa day!

take care
