Sometimes you roll the dice, others the dice roll you. This was true for the Nurgle and my opponent coach Merry.
Clearly, we were outclassed from the very beginning. This forced unwise mistakes, which were not punished.
Merry's coaching was, at the same time, not rewarded. This gave us some chance to press forwards.
Best look at this game from the things I liked from Merry, and how it could have worked. I did not do so much here for sure.
What impressed me:
1. BLOCK GENERATION
I set up end of T1 offense with players 1 row removed. Merry then makes sure to blitz into his line of players for additional blocks.
We are then swarmed with base contact, and can only 1db away. A skull would have ended the drive.
Also... we did not blitz... could not see a good one. Must look into that...
2. ABOVE
The more I look back on it, the more I think most momentum to Merry and problems to myself were caused by the above block generation.
We were out blocked, based well, and under pressure all game. Even with the pushes and skulls from Nurgle, the upper hand was with them.
Which is funny to say, given result, but yeah, Norse have some more block and more speed which carried us through.
We ride on their back like the oxpecker bird on the back of a great bull.”
