#1 Bakkies Breaker – Serious Injury (NI)
#6 Os du Stomp – Head Injury (-AV)
#9 Botha Elfbreaka – Dead (RIP)
NWBL: S8 - FA Cup Round #1

Carnage, a relentless sledgehammer of a game. The Blitzkrieg ended up on the wrong end of the butchers bill.

In truth, it was a tied game, and only with luck were we able to receive the ball in OT, and remedy the numbers disadvantage with LOS blocks.

Not a deserved victory to be fair, and our Orcs seem hungover from their Bourbon Cup loss.

Learnings

1. COVER

Biggest mistake of game- T3 of 2nd half.

We did not cover our back field, leaving a single, based, orc to guard our midfield.

Worse, it was a key positional, left open for blitzing, and ended up CAS. Not protected well at all.

So, what should we have done?

We actually start that turn with lots of strength at that exact ingress point.

But, we direct our players away. The safety blitzer marks a rogue imp blitzer on the sideline, then the tackle orc chases after it for the blitz. Two errors right there.

We also block a lineman towards our own goal, rather than away from it. Poor practice, and it made a difference.

Then we move a line orc around the side to mark a bodyguard- we are looking to limit there movement as we sense the game state changing against us.

The whole turn needs a re-do, with blitz into mid field. A poor turn, very well punished.

2. APO

We are struggling to find the right way to use the apo.

We eschewed its use on a 1st half KO, which was wise as it did end up recovering.

However it was wasted in trying to protect a serious injury to our star player ball carrier. Choice was -AV over the -S. Both injuries are cause for retirement.

So apo was wasted, which left us open to two more CAS results. Must ponder on this usage- I think I can do better.

Summary

We were wrecked, and shook, and the team is in disarray.

Our two key players are now dead and injured, leaving us without a dedicated ball carrier or a tackle player.

Next match is likely to be against superior TV vamps with multiple blodge, high strength and high movement players.

There will be no help from star players as they are banned in the NWBL.

We await the inevitable pantsing, and will lick our wounds ahead of a new season. Onwards to the Silver division.

The badge below is for our opponent- KILLING a player with T16 foul. It was actually T24, which probably makes it even better IMO. Bravo, the way the game should be played.
